چکیده

Inbreeding is generally associated with a reduction in production and profitability. Therefore, it essential that be monitored kept under control. The purpose of this study was to calculate the inbreeding coefficient for Holstein Friesian cattle registered database Cattle Breeders' Association Turkey (TDSYMB). TDSYMB comprised two elements: (i) pre-herdbook (ii) herdbook, including information about, example, ownership, breeding, some traits. In study, databases were combined. consisted 6,935,005 individuals born 1962-2012. coefficients calculated using Wright's method, ranging from zero 43.75% mean 0.0012 standard deviation (SD) 0.01273 all animals, considering inbred 0.0106 0.03272. average animals population 2012 found 0.0022. population, proportion number increased over years, while decreased. This could due fact gene flow other countries quite high, pedigree taken into account importing sperm live (both heifers bulls).

Identification of factor XI deficiency in Holstein cattle in Turkey

BACKGROUND Factor XI (FXI) is a plasma protein that participates in the formation of blood clots. Factor XI deficiency is autosomal recessive hereditary disorder that may be associated with excess bleeding in Holstein cattle. METHODS In this study, 225 Holstein cows reared in Turkey were screened in order to identify FXI genotypes. DNA extractions were obtained from the fresh blood of the cow...

Inbreeding in Dairy Cattle

Inbreeding is defined as half of the genetic relationship between an animal’s parents. For example, the offspring from a mating of animals A and B, which have the same father, will have 12.5 percent inbreeding, because the genetic relationship between A and B is 25 percent. Statistical methods to select the best sires of each generation have been developed, making it feasible to achieve any pos...

Inbreeding in Cattle

Genetic and Phenotypic Effects Inbreeding can have dramatic effects on a herd. These effects are the result of individuals receiving identical genes from each parent. If the parents are related, it is more likely that they have genes that are identical. An individual receiving identical genes from each parent is said to be homozygous for that pair of genes. This would be desirable if the gene t...

Genome-Wide Estimates of Coancestry, Inbreeding and Effective Population Size in the Spanish Holstein Population

Estimates of effective population size in the Holstein cattle breed have usually been low despite the large number of animals that constitute this breed. Effective population size is inversely related to the rates at which coancestry and inbreeding increase and these rates have been high as a consequence of intense and accurate selection. Traditionally, coancestry and inbreeding coefficients ha...
